There are four steps to becoming an event first aider with St John Ambulance and our committee are here to support you every step of the way!

Register your interest and we'll send you a link to the online form in early October. You'll also apply for a DBS check online.
Applicants will be shortlisted then invited to a selection day.

Our selection day takes place on Sunday 27th October 2019. At the selection day you'll have a short interview, ID document checks, photograph and uniform sizing taken as well as completing four minutes of CPR.

Successful candidates will start training mid term one. There are five days of training with an assessment on the final day.

You pick up your uniform and head out on events! You'll be assigned a point of contact to help you settle in. You'll still attend our weekly sessions to keep learning and maintain your skills.

Your journey to becoming a volunteer starts with a simple application form and DBS (criminal records) check. Find out more at our welcome meetings early in term one.

If you would like to volunteer with us, double check that you will be able to make all the selection and training dates below before following the link below to register your interest.

Once you've registered, we'll send you a link to the online application, once it s live - the deadline is 18th October.

You don't have to complete the application all in one go, you can save your application and come back to it up until the deadline.

You will be sent details of how to apply for a DBS check online. You will need to show three separate ID documents in person at your selection day.

The combinations of documents that you will can use are found here so please make sure you have these at university with you.

If your initial application is shortlisted, you'll be invited to a selection day on Sunday 27th October 2019. This is a chance for us to get to know why you want to volunteer with us and for you to ask us any questions.

A short interview with two of the committee, so we can find out more about why you want to volunteer with us.

ID checks

You'll need to bring the documents for your DBS check (no photocopies) the allowed documents are listed here

We'll take a photograph of you so we can issue an ID card.

Uniform sizing

You will try on some uniform so that we can order you the correct sizes.

Fitness for role

Just four minutes of CPR to check you are fit enough (no prior knowledge required as we'll show you what to do).

There is some flexibility for you to choose which dates you would like to do, but the dates shown here are the only ones available this academic year so please keep them free.
